I Tried 3 GPT Side Hustles for 30 Days — Here's What Actually Made Money

A thumbnail-style digital graphic featuring a case study on three GPT side hustles tested for 30 days, showing $159 earned with icons of a laptop, money, and a rising bar chart.

I had 30 days, no budget, and a laptop. My goal? See if GPT side hustles are just hype—or if they can actually make money.
Spoiler: Two failed. One worked better than I expected.

🧠 Why I Did This 30-Day GPT Test

I was tired of watching GPT tutorials on YouTube at 2AM.

"How I made $10K a month with ChatGPT!"
"Quit your job using GPT side hustles!"
Yeah… okay.

So I asked myself:
What if I actually tried these things—like really tried—for 30 days?

I set 3 rules:

  1. No budget. Free tools or freemium only.

  2. 1 hour per day max (I have a job and a toddler).

  3. No prior audience. Start from zero.

Here’s what happened.

🔧 Side Hustle #1 – Affiliate Blog with GPT Articles

🧰 Setup:

  • Platform: Blogger (free)

  • Niche: “AI productivity tools”

  • GPT role: Writing SEO-optimized blog posts

  • Tool: ChatGPT + KoalaWriter (trial)

💻 Execution:

I published 2 posts per week:

  • “Notion AI vs Jasper: Which One’s Better?”

  • “Top 5 GPT Tools for Writers in 2025”

Each article had affiliate links to the tools.

❌ Mistake #1:

I didn’t do keyword research at all.
I thought GPT would “just know.”

Wrong.
First 2 posts? Barely got 10 views… total.

✅ What worked:

Once I added free SEO plugins and optimized for long-tail keywords like
“best GPT tools for students,” my traffic jumped.

Result after 30 days:

  • Posts published: 7

  • Clicks: 44

  • Affiliate sales: $68

Not bad. But far from $1K/month.

💼 Side Hustle #2 – Prompt Packs on Gumroad

🧰 Setup:

  • Product: “50 Instagram Caption Prompts for Coaches”

  • GPT role: Generating prompt lists

  • Platform: Gumroad

  • Landing page: Made in Notion

💬 Execution:

I bundled 3 packs:

  • Social captions

  • Sales emails

  • Storytelling templates

Uploaded them as digital downloads.
Shared 3 posts in Reddit + 2 Twitter threads.

❌ Mistake #2:

My first prompt pack was way too generic.
No one wants “5 email prompts.”
They want something like “5 email prompts to revive cold leads in SaaS.”

I rebuilt the packs to be niche-specific.

✅ What worked:

On Day 17, I made my first sale — $7.
That one notification?
Felt like I won the lottery.

Result after 30 days:

  • Sales: 11

  • Revenue: $91

  • Refunds: 1

Still small. But it proved people would actually buy.

🎥 Side Hustle #3 – YouTube Automation with GPT

🧰 Setup:

  • Niche: “GPT vs Human” debates

  • GPT role: Script generation

  • Tools: ChatGPT, ElevenLabs (trial), Pictory.ai

🛠️ Execution:

Wrote 5 scripts with GPT:

  • “Can GPT Replace Teachers?”

  • “GPT Writes a Rap Battle vs Shakespeare”

Used ElevenLabs to voiceover.
Pictory made videos.
Uploaded to a fresh faceless channel.

❌ Mistake #3:

Thumbnails were terrible.
Like… truly bad.

Also, I didn’t promote the videos. Just waited for YouTube SEO magic.

Not happening.

Result after 30 days:

  • Videos uploaded: 5

  • Revenue: $0

  • Subscribers: 3 (probably bots)

YouTube automation = slow burn.
Maybe great long-term, but not for fast returns.

📊 30-Day Results

Side HustleTime SpentRevenue
Affiliate Blog~15 hrs$68
Prompt Packs~10 hrs$91
YouTube Automation~20 hrs$0
Total45 hrs$159

Not life-changing.
But here's the thing:

$159 → from scratch → with zero capital → in 30 days.

Imagine what 3 months could do.

🧠 What I Learned (That No Tutorial Told Me)

  • GPT is amazing — but directionless without strategy

  • People don’t buy “prompts” — they buy results

  • Affiliate content needs traffic. And traffic needs real SEO

Most of all?

Showing up every day for 30 minutes matters more than “perfect prompts.”

💬 Final Thought: Do This If You’re Just Starting

Pick just one hustle.
Don’t do all three.

If I had to start over, I’d go all-in on Prompt Packs + Affiliate Blog.
That combo works faster, cheaper, and scales better than YouTube (at first).

And honestly?

You can copy my entire stack:

  • ChatGPT (Free)

  • KoalaWriter (Trial)

  • Notion + Gumroad (Free)

  • Reddit/Twitter (Organic traffic)

Don’t just read about GPT income.
Try it. Fail fast. Adjust. Try again.

I did. And now I have $159 more than I did 30 days ago.
